Pfc. Marine Corps, {MC2423236}, Vietnam War-Pfc. O'Connor was killed in action by an explosive device on 5-12-1968 while serving as an Antitank Assaultman with the 2nd Platoon, Co. K of the 3rd Battalion, 27th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Pfc. O'Connor started his tour of Vietnam on 4-24-1968.

He is the son of Mr. William James O'Connor, Sr. & Mrs. Lois V. O'Connor of 3843 West 83rd Street, Chicago, Illinois, and he leaves one sister, Mrs. Kathleen Shipinziki of 414 Stevens Street, Addison, Illinois, and he enlisted with the Marines in Chicago on 10-25-1967.

Awards; Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
