Esther Vea Emerson, age 76, New Castle resident, went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2014. Her death followed a lengthy illness. She was born March 30, 1938 in New Carlisle, Indiana a daughter of the late Thurman and Charlotte Baker. Esther retired from McDonalds in 2000 after working for McDonalds in Rushville, IN and then Vincennes, IN a total of 18 years.
She is survived by, sons, David (Sueann) Emerson of Round Rock, Texas and Chad Emerson of New Castle, Indiana; daughter, Chris (Harry) Chase of New Castle, Indiana; grandchildren, Jastin and Summer Chase of New Castle, Indiana, En, Dax, and Ace Emerson of Round Rock, Texas; step-grandchildren, Stacy (Eric) Sparks of Greencastle, Indiana, Matthew (Erin) Gabbard of Plainfield, Indiana, Jennifer Dehoney of Rushville, Indiana, and Derek Chase of New Jersey; step-great grandchildren, Topher Poore, Aaron Sparks, and Daniel Sparks of Greencastle, Indiana, Matthew Jr. and Hayden Gabbard of Plainfield, Indiana; brothers David (Dottie) Baker of East Moline, Illinois, Marion (Deanna) Baker of Arizona, Gerald (Pat) Baker of Minnesota; sisters, Janet (Larry) Feightner of Hazleton, Indiana and Jeannie Cox of Greensburg, Indiana; also several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Emerson, her parents and her brother, Irvin Baker.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 pm, Tuesday, October 7th, 2014 at Macer Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The funeral will be at 2 pm Tuesday with Pastor Eric Hickman officiating. Burial will be at South Mound Cemetery.
