Major league Baseball Player. The right-hander pitched his entire career with the Chicago Cubs from 1941-42 and 1946-49 with three years in the military during World War II. He pitched mostly in relief, compiling a 19-8 record with 12 saves out of the bullpen. He made just eight starts in his career, six coming in 1946, when he enjoyed his best season at 9-2 with a 3.05 earned run average in 129 innings. The following year he was 8-3 with a 3.36 ERA. His lifetime totals were 21-12 and a 3.48 ERA.
