STOCKTON -- James Russell Miller, an employee of Palmer Petroleum Inc. of Shreveport, La., died Tuesday at a hospital in Mobile. He was 44.

Miller was a resident of Stockton. He was a member of Montgomery Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Laura L. Miller of Stockton; one stepson, Jesse J. Sproles of Foley; two daughters, Rachel Joella Miller of Stockton and Emily K. Miller of Atmore; one stepdaughter, Angela Bartley of Atmore; his parents, James Russell Miller and Marie Davis Miller of Shubuta, Miss.; and four sisters, Ann Miller Robinson of Kingsport, Tenn., Sue Whatley of Laurel, Miss., and Virginia Miller and Kathy Miller, both of Shubuta.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, Ala. The funeral is set for 11 a.m. Friday at Center Ridge Baptist Church in Carmichael, Miss. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
