Rev. Samuel Mathis Bolden died March 23 at Dumark Retirement Home here.

The son of Samuel and Lillie Bolden, he was born March 15, 1892 at Polk, Mississippi and moved to Arkansas in 1919. Residing in Yancopin commnunity, he became a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and later lived in Oakwood Bayou community where he was active in St. Stephen's Baptist Church. He moved to Mitchellville, was licensed as minister in 1973 and was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Sam Bolden of Dumas; one brother, Tom Bolden of Mt. Vernon, Alabama; two nieces, Mrs. Ruby Graham of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Glennie Sanders of Memphis; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Willis officiating.

Burial at Almeta Cemetery by Brown Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Mose Handley, Willie Johnson, Mac McDonald, Myles Ward, Dave Love and Iris Jackson. Honorary were Union Grove deacons.
