Frontier peace officer. He served on the Ellsworth, Kansas police force during its heyday as a wild and wooly cow town. He was an efficient officer and was much despised by the Texas cowboys whom he routinely arrested for being drunk and disorderly in the town limits. He was later forced out of the police force by town council members who were afraid of losing business from the Texas cattle men. He refused to stop carrying his guns in town since he knew the cowboys would take advantage of his being unarmed and kill him. The town fathers directed that he be disarmed and, when confronted by policeman Charles Brown, refused again to give up his guns. Brown shot and killed him as a result.

FaG photo volunteer Carol Dauer: I talked to local historian Jim Gray who said Morco was originally buried in the 1st cemetery which was where the golf course is now. Said he was re-buried in this cemetery with others with no markers.
