Major League Baseball Player. He was a backup catcher for virtually his entire 12-year career with the Washington Senators from 1939 to 1942 and 1944-1950 and the Boston Red Sox in 1951. The most he played came in 1949, when he batted .271 in 109 games. His lifetime totals were .250 with 13 homers and 211 runs batted in. He appeared in 647 games behind the plate.
