She is the daughter of William Storie and Elizabeth Stewart of Renfrewshire, Scotland.

She married William Baird on 9 April 1814 in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The couple emigrated to America about 1823. William died in 1834 in New York. While she and her children settled in Illinois some of her family including some of her brothers, established Renfrew, Ontario, Canada in 1825.

Children: Alexander, John, and James Baird.

The birth and death dates are taken from old cemetery records that contain typographical errors. For example, in the typewritten records, Jean's last name is spelled "Beard". Additionally, although the death date appears to fall on her 72nd birthday, it was very common in the 19th century to use the death month/day as the birth date when the birth date was not known. The typewritten record, located at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Law Library in Springfield, Illinois, is copied below with the aforementioned errors:

Carthage Cemetery
Lot No. 9
Jean Beard
Nov. 27, 1788
Nov. 27, 1860
72 ys
(Burial Nov. 29, 1860)

I have been to Lot 9 of Old Carthage Cemetery (t/k/a Carthage Cemetery) and found stones for most of the people said to be buried there. In June of 2014, no stone for Jean Baird was found; however, the next time I travel to Carthage, I will look again. Many stones in this cemetery are missing or perhaps buried. Several others have fallen and appear to have been moved out of the way, perhaps for mowing purposes. This has resulted in piles of stones grouped together. Additionally, there is a spot near Lot 9 that appears to have hosted bonfires. All other burials recorded for Lot 9 are persons related to Flora Manier's family, but so far I have not found a connection between the Baird family and Flora's family (other than they share this plot).
