He was born in York on Nov. 5, 1948, a son of Richard W. and L. Hazel Stansfield Keirstead Sr.
He graduated from Wells High School and made his career at the Maine Turnpike Authority.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman who liked hunting and fishing, especially in the Moosehead Region, and with his friends, Maynard Drew and Arthur Jones.
He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and sharing time with them.
Mr. Keirstead is survived by his wife, Gail, of Wells; two sons, Christopher of Wells and Eric of Shirley, Mass.; two daughters, Tara and Jodi Keirstead, both of Wells; a brother, William of Rangeley; a sister, Kathleen Brown of Portsmouth, N.H.; and five granddaughters, Keirsten Shawn Keirstead, Brianna Leigh Keirstead, Natasha Lee Jackson, Lindsay Marie Jackson and Kalcey Anne Jackson; and one grandson, Brandon Carrier.
KEIRSTEAD - Richard W. Keirstead Jr., 56, of Wells, Maine, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, Maine. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at that location. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk in the spring of 2005.
