Mrs Vandergrift Service Is Conducted In Sanford
Sanford April 22- Funeral service for the late Mrs Martha Ann Vandergrift, 74 was held yesterday after noon at the First Baptist Church this city. Rev Frank C Hawkins pastor conducted the services. Pallbearers were D C Lawrence D L Seymore, W A Maness, G G Dorsett, F R Snypes and George Branson. Interment was in Old Buffalo Cemetery.
Mrs Vandergrift who was a resident of Sanford died at the home of her daughter Mrs A B Bragg Essex Md., Saturday morning after an illness of only a few days.She was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Hugh W Allen of Halifax County Virginia. She married the late J C Vandergrift in 1878, and in 1907 came to Sanford to make her home.
Surving are three daughters Mrs A B Bragg Essex MD, Mrs J W Bragg Stemmers Run Md, Mrs Annie Underwood Sanford and three sons Ernest V Vandergrift Baltmore Md Manson Vandergrift Allience Ohio, Thorton Vandergrift Freedom Penn. a number of grandchildren and one great grandchild. One brother C W Allen and one sister Mrs J T Noblin both of Halifax county Virginia.
