CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Agatha R. Shaffer, 99, of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Fort Loudon, Pa., and Clifton Heights, Pa., died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born April 17, 1903, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Howard C. and Ida Purell Ringer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Shaffer Sr., in 1952.

She worked in the floral business as a bookkeeper and designer. She was employed by the former Bellevue Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia and Polites Florist in Drexel Hill, Pa. She retired in 1965.

She attended Trinity United Church of Christ in Fort Loudon.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas H. Shaffer Jr. of Drexel Hill and James D. Shaffer of Clifton Heights, Pa.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert L. Shaffer; two sisters; and three brothers.

Graveside services will be private in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill. Pastor Christopher J. Franz will officiate.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg, Pa.
