Excerpt from From the Glasgow Historical Museum article on the O. E. Markle Family --

Orval E. and Lois Wilson Markle are life long resident of Glasgow. O.E., son of Thomas H. and Florence Woods Markle, was born in Glasgow, February 28, 1916. Lois, daughter of Floyd and Mary McKitterick Wilson, was born in Glasgow March 14, 1921. Both graduated from GHS. They were married April 20, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada. At that time O.E. was a civilian flight instructor for the Cal Aero Flight Academy, instructing Army Air Corp cadets. Later he served in the Army Air Corp as pilot in the Ferry Command. He continued to be active in flying. He flew the Glasgow Air Ambulance plane after his retirement.

From 1946 their permanent home has been in Glasgow. Their oldest son, was born in Palmdale, California. The other three children were born in Glasgow. All of the children graduated from GHS and the U or M. The family were active members of the Episcopal Church.

O.E., with his brothers, C.D. and Robert (Tag) took over the management of Markle's Inc. from 1952 til 1981. O.E. and Lois were always very active and interested in the betterment and growth of the Glasgow area and the State of Montana. He served 15 years as a Montana director for the Mountain Bell Telephone Co., 9 years on the MDU board, is a past president of the Montana Chamber of Commerce, the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, also a past member of the U of M Business School Board and the U of M Foundation Board. He has helped set up many foundations to help with the state and local community including the FMDH Foundation, the Boy Scouts Foundation and Luke's 100. Lois is a charter member and active Secretary-Treasurer of the GHS Education Trust Fund committee.

In 1981 the sons of O.E. and Lois returned to Glasgow and took over the management of Markle's Inc.
