Eleanor was the daughter of Jay Gould II and Anne Douglass Graham Gould. She was raised at Manhattan and educated at Miss Hewitt's School on East 79th Street followed by studies abroad. Eleanor married to Ludlow Whitaker Stevens on 19 January 1934 at Saint Thomas Church at Manhattan. They made their home at New York City where her husband was associated with the New York Stock Exchange firm of Hartshorne, Fales and Company. Eleanor died at her home at 3 East 69th Street when her husband was serving in the United States Army Air Forces at Fort Logan, Colorado. Eleanor and Ludlow had no children.
