Alice Maud Murray was born in new Brunswick, Canada, 6 January 1866, died Sunday morning, 5 May 1918, aged 52 years, 3 months.
She was married on 14 April 1886 to Robert L. Murray.. Two sons were born to them,--Walter C. and Cecil E. Murray, both of whom together with her husband, six sisters and one brother survive.
Mrs. Murray came to the United States with her husband in 1886, and to Shell Lake, in 1887. Here they made their home and raised their family. Her efforts in the interest of her family were tireless.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church, was a teacher in the local Methodist Sunday School for a number of years, successfully taught a class of boys who have now come to manhood, and who will not forget her interest in them and the times she touched their lives and was of real service of them.
While in general good health, she was overtaken a short time ago with an affliction which necessitated an operation.This was preformed at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, on 4 May, she was unable to withstnd the shock and sank rapidly until the angel of death came for her on the following day.
Deceased evidently had the benefit of a liberal education in her girlhood day, was a woman of high ideals, a strong will and great sense of right and wrong, faithful to her convictions, a good woman in the true sense of the word.
The funeral was held in the Methodist church, 8 May 1918. Rev. J.T. Kneen of he Spooner M.E.church, assisted the pastor, Rev. B.H. Horton. Interment was in Shell Lake Cemetery.
