Iver Sorlie of Hartland,was a veteran of the Civil War.
He was born in Norway July 25, 1835. The son of Jacob and Kari (Crippen) Sorlie.
He received his education in Norway and came to America in 1853, locating in Wisconsin for a time.

In 1859 he came to Minnesota and located Hartland Township where he bought 160 acres in the township of Hartland Section 25. Building first a log house but later replacing it with a comfortable frame house and the necessary buildings.

Threw the years he added 160 acres in section 18 in Bath Township. He was contented and raised a happy family.

He spent his life on the farm except for the years he was in the Civil War.
Jan. 1, 1862 he enlisted into Company C. Fiftieth Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry as a private.
He was wounded in the left arm in the battle of Murfreesboro and was captured after laying on the battle field unable to move. He was first sent to the hospital in Nashville and then transferred to the hospital at New Albany, Indiana. He was there for three months. He was discharged at Estherville, Kentucky. He returned home and remained there since.

He was married September 26 , 1859 to Mary Olson born in Norway , Feb. 4, 1841 daughter of Ole Christenson and Gunhild Peterson.
This family was born 13 children.
