Beecher Felix Wellman, age 33, Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad worker, was killed Thursday, Jan 30, 1930, crushed by a rock-slide while drilling dynamite holes in the rock face overhanging the railroad tunnel in Ashland, KY. Two other workers were also killed and several more were seriously injured. The rail workers had been strengthening trackage in the rail tunnel when cave-in occurred.
Beecher Wellman was born Jul. 14, 1897 in Kentucky, the son of John H Wellman and Myrtie Thompson. He was the husband of Nora Thompson Wellman.
