Dorris Glenn Sawyer Sr was born on August 2, 1925, the son of Walter Sawyer ( -1974) and Beulah ( -- ) Sawyer ( -1979).
He was married about 1948 to Dorothy "Dot" Parnell (1928-2014), the daughter of Thomas L Parnell and Anne B ( -- ) Parnell.
Living in Pegram, Tennessee, Dorris was a member of Pegram United Methodist Church from age 16, and he served the church in many capacities, and on several committees while there. He was also a 50-year member of Belleview Masonic Lodge 716, having just received the certificate a couple of weeks before hie death. He also served in Cheatham County Court, as a Commissioner for 12 years and was appointed to the Cheatham County Election Commission for several years.
He was 80 years old when he passed away on May 29, 2006.
Preceded in death by his parents and by his son Dorris Glenn Sawyer Jr ( -1992), he was survived by his wife, a married daughter, married granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, and burial was in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
