Mary E. Hinkley, 95, formerly of 122 Second Street, Auburn, died Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the Clover Manor in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on February 1, 1919, she was the daughter of Charles and Regina Arsenault Roberts. Educated in local schools, she was employed for many years as a spinner in the textile industry. A devoted mother and grandmother, she was an excellent cook and loved having her family over for Saturday beans and Sunday dinner. Survivors include a son, Walter and wife Sue of Auburn, a daughter, Margaret and husband Robert Belanger of Lewiston, a brother, Richard Roberts and wife Lorraine of Lewiston, six grandchildren; Marc and Daniel Ouellette of Phoenix, AZ, Michael and wife Amy Hinkley of Auburn, Debbie and husband Michael Carrier of Saco, Diane Plunkett of Lewiston, and Richard Ouellette and wife Misty of Lewiston, with whom Mary lived since 2008, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son, William, five brothers; Fred, Sam, William, John, and Albert Roberts, and four sisters; Arlene Hiscock, Jane Cote, Regina Strout, and Patricia Bissonette. She was also predeceased by her longtime friend and domestic partner Edward Driscoll.
