At the age of 18, he moved to Lisbon to become a model, first for Elite Models and later for On Fashion. After 4 years of working for fashion and advertisement campaigns, he was cast in the Portuguese teen series "Morangos com Açúcar" as Dino. The character soon became one of the most beloved by the audience. Francisco was supposed to become the central character in "Morangos com Açúcar" in the next season, however in the climb to fame he died in a car accident near Benavente after an autograph signing session at a nightclub in Coruche. The autopsy confirmed the presence of amphetamines, cocaine and alcohol on his system at the time of death. He was 22 years old.
