William "Bill" Nugent, 83, former Huron County Commissioner and longtime Bingham Township farmer, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2005, at his home, following a short illness.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1922, in Bad Axe, son of the late Howard and Alice (Porsche) Nugent.
He married Annette Jeffrey on July 26, 1947, in St. Edward Catholic Church in Kinde.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church the Ubly Lions Club, the Holstein Freisian Association, and the D.H.I.A. He served on the Agricultural Advisory Council, the mental health board, and the Huron County Health Department Board. He enjoyed being a participant in the Alabama Jubilee musical group as well as running Nugent's Centennial Farm in Bingham Township.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Nugent, of Bad Axe; one son, Ronald Nugent and his wife, Irene, of Bad Axe; two daughters, Carol Wolschlager and her husband, Bernie, of Bad Axe, Jean Forster and her husband, Randy, of Bad Axe; seven grandchildren, Todd Wolschlager and his wife, Gaye, of Port Huron, Chris Wolschlager and his wife, Heather, of Akron, Jenny Nugent of Grand Rapids, Bill Nugent and his wife, Lori, of Sandusky, Jim Nugent and his wife, Lindsay, of Bad Axe, Rikki Tschirhart and her husband, Duane, of Ubly, Becky Forster of Bad Axe; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by four brothers, Leon, Ralph, Ronald, and Percy Nugent; two sisters, Ardis Yageman, and Loretta Fox; and one great-granddaughter, Abigail Wolschlager.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Officiating will be Fr. James Carlson, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe, or from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. A scripture service will be at 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be offered to Scheurer Hospital or the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
