Cecil Robert McIndoo

With members of his family by his side, Cecil Robert McIndoo, 87, peacefully went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 7, 2014, in the home he and his wife Betty Holton McIndoo had lived in for their entire married life of 67 years. A Memorial service will be held Monday, December 15, 2:00 at the Caldwell Christian Church, 3207 E. Ustick Rd., with Rob Belles officiating.

Cecil was born to Ray and Theda Aubushon McIndoo, February 18, 1927, in North Branch, Kansas. At the age of ten, during the Dust Bowl Era, they moved to the Caldwell-Greenleaf area. In 1942, the family moved for the final time near Greenleaf. He later built his family home on this same property.

He went to Greenleaf Grade School, graduated from Caldwell High School, and attended the College of Idaho. He then joined the Merchant Marines shortly after World War II, and after being discharged, married Betty Lou Holton on November 23, 1947 in Greenleaf.

Cecil worked with his father, and later his son, in the livestock business and continued to pursue this career until his health declined. His associates have often told his family how well he was respected. He was a fixture at all livestock auctions in the valley, worked in the ring, clerked, and was a partner in building what was originally Davis Livestock and is now Treasure Valley Livestock. If you didn't personally know him, you may remember the last cattle truck he owned with "McIndoo Livestock" above the cab, which he retired with 638,000 miles.

He was a man of great faith. Family, friends, daily devotions and prayers, pitching horseshoes, and bowling were dear to his heart. We will always remember his playful side and the many pranks he liked to pull on friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; three children, Dennis (Janis) McIndoo of Greenleaf, Cindy Staggs of Caldwell, and Craig (Wendy) McIndoo of Newberg, Oregon; 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his three siblings.
