Lee F. Pieper was born on April 4, 1918 in Kentucky, the son of Joseph Felix Pieper and Mary Berberich Pieper. Lee married Dorothy M. Simon Pieper on November 26, 1942 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, and they had seven children. The couple lived most of their married life in Boone County, Kentucky.

Lee died at age 86 on June 3, 2004 in Erlanger, Kenton County, Kentucky. He is interred near his wife in the mausoleum in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Kenton County.
