Professional Basketball Player. For 26 seasons, he played guard for Harlem Globetrotters basketball team. He appeared in more than 5,000 games for the Globetrotters in nearly 90 countries and according to team officials, his 26 seasons is five longer than the NBA record of 21 seasons. In 1949, he played his first game with the Globetrotters in an era when blacks weren't allowed into the National Basketball Association. Dubbed "Showboat", he could do more with his feet than most players did with their hands plus had the court sense that belonged to only a few legendary athletes of the game. He succeeded team mate Reece "Goose" Tatum as the Globetrotters' top showman in 1955. He filled in as player and coach beginning in 1968, holding that role until he retired in 1974. Hall was honored by the Globetrotters with the team's Legends Ring, in a ceremony at the Palace of Auburn Hills Detroit, Michigan, on February 1, 1998. The ring is presented to those who have made a contribution outside of basketball and played a role in the development of the Globetrotters.
