Philippine President. A native of Roxas City, Capiz, he served as the President of the Philippines from May 28, 1946, until his death on April 15, 1948. Educated at the University of Manila, and the University of the Philippines, he went onto become a member of several parties and served many different positions including, as a Secretary and Law Clerk to Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano from 1913 to 1915, Law Professor from 1915 to 1916, Municipal Councilor of Capiz in 1917, Governor of Capiz from 1919 to 1921, Representative in the House of Representatives fro the 7th, 8th, 9th Legislatures from 1922 to 1934, Speaker of the House from 1922 to 1933, Delegate to the Constitutional Convention from 1934 to 1935, Member of the National Assembly from 1935 to 1938, Secretary of Finance from November 26, 1938 to August 28, 1941, Senator-at-large on November 18, 1941, Member of the Prepratory Commission on Philippine Independence in 1943, Chairman of the National Economic Board, Chiarman of the Bigasang Bayan in 1944, and President of the Senate from 1945 to 1946. Roxas passed away after suffering a heart attack on April 15, 1948, at the age of 56.
