Edmund Giebler, 83, St. John's Rest Home, died Monday, June 26, at St. Anthony Hospital. He was born July 14, 1894 in Catherine, the son of Joseph and Dorothy (Karlin) Giebler.


He married Anna Staab in November of 1920 at Catherine. She preceded him in death in September of 1971.


He was a retired machinist for S & W Supply Co. in Hays. He was a World War I veteran, a member of the Knights of Colubus third and fourth degree, the Third Order of St. Francis, the VFW, and the World War I Veterans.


Surviving are: six sons, Albert C., Wakefield, R.I., Edmund J., Red Cloud, Neb., Herbert F., St. Paul, Minn., Harold J., and Norman G., Hays, and Patrick J., Colby; two daughters, Mrs. Edward J. (Sybilla) Schukman, Hays, and Mrs. Ignatius (Bernice) Schumacher, St. Louis; one brother, James, Catherine Rt; three sisters, Mrs. Adolph (Seraphine) Haas and Mrs. Jacob (Hyacinth) Miller, Menasha, Wis., and Mrs. John (Cyrilla) Getz, Hays; two half-sisters, Mrs. Peter (Lucille) Weigel, Hays, and Mrs. Dan (Angie) Billinger, Victoria; 35 grandchildren.


The funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Church, Hays. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery with military honors by the Hays VFW.
