She is survived by her husband, Harry Gene Cornwell, three sons, Randy Hayes, Jeffrey L. Hayes and wife Pam, and Steve Brown and wife Quoc, all of Shelby, NC, a step-daughter, Tammy Cornwell Richie and husband Nash of Fleetwood, NC, nine grandchildren, Chad Hayes, Jennifer Hayes Edwards, Susan Hayes Dodson, Sarah Hayes, Stephen Brown, Jr., Jacob Brown, Leah Brown, LeaAnn Brown, and Gena Cubillos, one step granddaughter, Anna Richie as well as eight great grandchildren, Ayden Brown, Cassidy Hayes, Nathaniel Edwards, Michaela Edwards, Cameron Hayes, LaTasha Parsons, Elijah Cubillos, and Esabella Cubillos..
Born October 25, 1938 in Cleveland County, Mrs. Cornwell was the daughter of the late Claude Herman Church and Pearl Bridges Church and was preceded in death by a husband, O.J. Brown, a brother, Herman Allen Church, two granddaughters, Heather Elizabeth Hayes and Karen Elaine Hayes and a step daughter, Shirley Ann Brown.
Mrs. Cornwell was a faithful member of the Zion Baptist Church where she was very active member of her Sunday School Class.
