Television Sports Commentator, Journalist, Actor. He will be best remembered for his work on ESPN's "SportsCenter" from 1993 until his death. He earned the reputation as being one of the hardest working and respected sportscasters, during the course of his career. Raised in North Carolina, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from the University of North Carolina and acquired experience from the school's radio station. After graduation, he worked for stations in Florence, South Carolina and Orlando, Florida, prior to landing the position of anchor and sportscaster with ESPN2 in 1993. He covered the NFL and NBA, among other sports and became popular for his catchphrases "Boo-Yah" and "As cool as the other side of the pillow." Additionally, he had acting roles in the films "He Got Game" (1998), "Herbie: Fully Loaded" (2005) and "The Game Plan" (2007). In 2002, Scott suffered an eye injury while broadcasting from a New York Jets' minicamp and in 2007, he was diagnosed with cancer which required chemotherapy. The disease returned in 2013 and in 2014, he was recipient of the "Jimmy V Perseverance Award" for his courageous battle. He succumbed to cancer at the age of 49.
