Ruth Rita Carter passed peacefully at her home in Riverside California on 9 January 2015. She is now with Lorne Edward Carter, her husband of 58 years. She was surrounded by her seven children, James E Carter of Winchester Virginia, Linda J. Carter, Joanne M. Carter, Bonnie N. Wadley, Timothy M. Carter, Patricia K. Hinojos, and Lorne F. Carter, all of Riverside. Ruth is also survived by her sister Patricia A. Stafford and her brother Richard J. Martynowski, both of Cleveland Ohio. Ruth is blessed with twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Ruth and Ed were both graduates of Rhodes High School in Cleveland. Ruth worked for Ohio Bell while Ed attended Ohio University. Soon after graduation, they began their Air Force journey. In 21 years, they lived in Maine, North Carolina, Alabama, Ohio, Louisiana, and Alaska. They settled their family in Riverside in 1970.
She was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, and served numerous other ministries. She also worked for 25 years as the cook for the rectory at St. Thomas. Ruth was the spiritual and day-to-day center of the Carter Family and she will be truly missed by all who knew her.

A Visitation at Arlington Mortuary from 4-8 PM on Monday, Jan 19, 2015. The Funeral Mass at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, at 11 AM Tuesday, Jan 20, 2015. The Internment Service at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, Jan 20, 2015. In lieu of flowers, Ruth has requested that donations be made to the St Thomas School.
