Bailey was born in Harrison County, W.Va.

He was an employee of Fort Morose, member of Phoebus Methodist Church and past master of Salem, W. Va. Lodge 84, AF & AM.

His wife, Mrs Goldie Hitt Bailey, died March 23, and his only child, Robert Bailey, died unexpectedly Nov. 17, 1957.

Bailey is survived by his mother, Mrs. O.A. Bailey of Clarksburg, W. Va.; a brother, H.G. Bailey of Willamstown, W. Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Walter Huffman of Hampton, Mrs. W.A. Saunders of Saluda, Mrs. W.H. Allman and Mrs. D.B. Hankey of Clarksburg; one grandson Robert Arden Bailey Jr. of the Navy, and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home, led by the Rev. Beverly Davis of Phoebus Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Parklawn Cemetery.

The family has requested that flowers be omitted and any memorials be sent to the local Cancer Society.

Pallbearers will be A.J. Sedlock, C.W. Oliver, Anthoney Tillie, W.W. Thacker, Harold Carpenter, Herman Hicks, Ervin Blizzard and Bennie J. Wallace.

Crash Is Fatal to 65-Yr.-Old Hamptonian

Hampton's second traffic fatality within a 39-hour period and the second of the year, occurred last last night when a 65-year-old Fort Monroe employee was killed in a collision at North Mallor and Sergeant Sts.

According to the report of Cpl. S.M. Davis the victim, Emeral A. Bailey, 65 of 65 Sergeant St., was driver of a car traveling north on North Mallory St. and was turning left onto Sergeant St. when he was struck by a vehicle raveling south on North Mallory operated by Walter Irvin Gray, 24, of 235 Woodland Rd., Hampton.

Bailey was pronounced dead on arrival at Dixie Hospital by Dr Paul J. Parker, assistant state medical examiner. According to the police report Bailey received a fractured skull, fractures of both arms and legs and internal injuries. Gray was admitted to Dixie Hospital with abrasions of the chest, lacerations of the face, arms and legs and possible internal injuries. A hospital spokesman reported his condition as "good" this morning.

POLICE reported that a charge of manslaughter was filed against Gray this morning.
The fatality brought Hampton's total to two for the year, after nearly four months of a clean slate. The city reported nine deaths last year.
