Mr. Brooks was born to James Isaac & Zora Ellen Morehead Brooks in Grenada, MS on July 31, 1918. Jack entered the United States Army in 1941 and was honorably discharged with a rank of Master Sergeant in November of 1944. While in the military, he worked as a Court Reporter and served in the Army Airborne Division. Post World War II, Mr. Brooks continued his career as a Court Reporter in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Jack was the owner of the former Briargate/Southaven Country Club. He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and all of the outdoors. Golf, however, was the sport in which he truly found his niche. Mr. Jack was a Professional Putter on the Professional Putting Tour. His love for the outdoors was evident throughout his entire life.

To continue his legacy, he leaves his wife, Bonnie Sue McElyea Brooks of Batesville, MS; 2 daughters, Jacquelyn Dixie Brooks Anderson of London, England and Cynthia Brooks Middleton (Paul) of Batesville; one son, Jack Brooks, Jr., (Deronda) of Olive Branch, MS; one step-daughter, Patricia Ann Cupp (Vince) of Sardis, MS; 5 grandchildren, Cydney Nealson, Lauren Middleton, Jonathan Middleton, Ashton Brooks and Erin Brooks; and one great grandchild, Summer Louise Nealon.

Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
