Spc. Carrasquillo of River Grove, Illinois saw a lot of things growing up in a rough neighborhood of Chicago. He turned that experience into music. He had books and books of lyrics going back to when he was 13, struggling through childhood, he wrote about it. His rap moniker was Proliphic, a play on the word prolific. After his mother died, he took care of his younger sister and brother, always insisting that they go to school. Himself a dropped out in his junior year but later received a GED. Then he made his move. He decided to join the Army and really turn his life around. He wanted to make a living for his family and be a hero to all. Miguel acheived that final goal. He planned to marry his girlfriend, 20-year-old Nicole Rosa in August. He was killed when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad at age 25.
