Musician. A female Bluegrass pioneer, she was known as Hillbilly Lilly. She was married to Wade Mainer, a bluegrass artist who sang with both the Mainer Mountaineers and The Sons of the Mountaineers. In addition to playing guitar and singing harmony with Wade on his recordings and in live performances, she had her own solo career. She performed on WSJS Radio in Winston-Salem, NC from 1935 - 1937, a feat that was considered unusual for a woman. She and her husband were honored in 1996 with the presentation of a Michigan Heritage award.
