R. M. Edwards, about 62 years of age, passed into the great beyond at his home in Fairfield at 11:30 o'clock Monday night, after three months illness, during which an operation was resorted to in efforts to prolong his life.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. I. O. Dent at Fairfield at 3:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in Fairfield cemetery at 4:00 o'clock.

He is survived by his wife and daughter, Miss Mary, 17, who resides at home, and W. L. Lott, a half-brother.

Mr. Edwards was reared in this county and is one of the old timers. He was one of the best known men in the county. He was a lawyer and a member of the firm of Edwards & French of Fairfield. He had served as county attorney and represented the district in the State Legislature in days gone by.

The passing of R. M. Edwards will be mourned by many citizens of Freestone County.

DEATH OF PROMINENT FREESTONE COUNTY ATTORNEY

Mr. R. M. Edwards, aged 62 years, prominent lawyer and well known and popular citizen of Freestone County, died at his home in Fairfield last Monday night after many weeks of suffering with cancer of the stomach. His remains were interred in the Fairfield cemetery Tuesday afternoon after religious services by Revs. Dent and McKissick and a tribute by his brother attorney, H. L. Williford.

Mr. Edwards was a native of this County, for many years a member of the bar, and efficiently served as County Attorney, member of the Legislature and member of the County School Board. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and until sickness overcame him, was a zealous Church and Sunday School worker.

Many friends came from different places to pay their last tribute of respect, and there were many beautiful floral offerings.

Deceased is survived by his wife, one daughter and a brother, Mr. Loyd Lott.

STREETMAN, Freestone co., Texas, Nov. 24 --R. M. Edwards, 62 years old, well-known attorney of this section, died at his home in Fairfield Monday night.

Mr. Edwards was a former member of the Legislature and also had served two terms as County Attorney. He is survived by a wife, Addie Edwards, and daughter, Mary Edwards. Burial was in the Fairfield Cemetery Tuesday afternoon.

(Note: Robert Marion Edwards father was John C. Edwards and mother was Mary E. (Johnson) Edwards. After the death of his father, John C. Edwards, his widow, Mary, married Mr. Lott)
