Janet Ruth Atkinson, 85, of Shell Lake died Friday, February 6, 2015 at Indianhead Medical Center. She was born May 3, 1929 in Alden, IA to Franklin and Clara (Johnson) Gibson. They moved to the Shell Lake area in 1932 where her father Frank Gribson started a chicken hatchery and farm. Janet attended Shell Lake schools.
She was united in marriage on September 1, 1945 to Cyrus F. Atkinson. Together they had three sons, Cyrus Foss III, Curtis Frank, Clinton Farrell and one daughter, Sheila Kathleen. Janet was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and friend and will be surely missed.
Janet is survived by her husband, Cyrus F. Atkinson of Shell Lake, sons, Curtis (Kyle) Atkinson of University Place, WA and Clinton (Barbara) Atkinson of Shell lake, daughter, Shiela Shaffer of Pastoria, OR, grandsons, Cyrus, Zachary and Curtis, granddaughter, Amanda and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Cyrus III, parents, brothers, Roger and Frank.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 12, 2015 at United Methodist Church, Shell Lake, WI with Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in Shell Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers are Clinton F. Atkinson, Curtis F. Atkinson, Curtis F. Atkinson II, Curtis Atkinson, Lyle Atkinson and Gene Hotskiss. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday at the church.
