M. Martiena "Marty" Morgensen passed peacefully from this earth and met her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2015. Marty was born on May 1, 1928, to Richard Wilkerson "R.W." Robberson & May Martha (Croak) Robberson. Her parents came from very humble beginnings and instilled in Marty a rock solid foundation of basic values. They wanted her to always have her heart's desire, and because of this, she had incredible opportunities growing up. She attended Classen High School, lettered in ping pong, was skilled at horseback trick riding, rode a motor scooter, and obtained her pilot's license before the age of twenty-one. Marty graduated from The University of Oklahoma. She was a trailblazer, receiving one of the first degrees in geology to be awarded to a woman. However, her true calling was in community service. While her children were in school, she was active in the PTA at Monroe Elementary School serving as President. A member of Junior Hospitality, she was instrumental in starting the submarine sandwich booth at the fair and acted in the "Follies." She worked with the Boy Scouts of America as a den mother and survived camping at Philmont Ranch with her family. As a 50-year member of the Girl Scouts of America, she served in many capacities from troop leader to cookie sales chairperson to council leadership for the Red Lands Council for West Oklahoma. She held one of the first "Lifetime" memberships, received the Gold Award, and was still active as a senior member alumni. One of her favorite activities with the Girl Scouts was the annual Christmas Symbols tour, which she helped initiate (and joyfully played Mrs. Claus!). One of Marty's most cherished activities was her sisterhood in P.E.O. She was initiated into Chapter AH but demitted to Chapter CA, where she held several offices, the last being Guard. She was always at the door to greet each member as they entered. She held this sisterhood most dear and will probably be organizing a chapter in heaven. She found her church home at Our Lord's Community Church in 1989. Her faith in God was a defining element in her life. She was an early member of the hand bell choir, was always involved in Bible study, and loved her "dinner" group. She was a proud and active member of the "Sunrise Community" and enjoyed the traditional church service with her favorite hymns. Her church family was extremely important to her, and she held these special friendships close to her heart. Current interests included knitting, garden club, playing Mahjong with friends, attending book club, and playing solitaire on her iPad. Her most memorable trips were to Holland and to the Holy Lands in Israel. Marty married Dean Morgensen in 1950 and had three children - Martha, Richard, and Randy. Marty was extremely proud of her five grandchildren - James, Andrew, Alex, Christopher, and Alana - and reveled in their accomplishments. After her marriage ended, Marty was blessed to have a deep and enduring friendship with Jim Jacobs, whom she had known since high school. He held a very special place in her life and heart and brought her great joy. Marty will now have the opportunity to once again see her beloved parents and two brothers - Jim and Glenn, who preceded her in death. While her family misses her dearly, her legacy will live on through all of her good works and those who loved her. She is survived by her children and their families, Martha Seabolt, of Edmond; Richard Morgensen, of Las Vegas; James and Alex Morgensen and Randy and Brenda Morgensen, of Edmond; Andrew, Christopher and Alana Morgensen; as well as many extended family members. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday, February 16 and 17, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper. Funeral Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 18 at Our Lord's Community Church, 11400 N. Portland Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73120, with Entombment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to P.E.O., Girl Scouts of America - Western Oklahoma, or Our Lord's Community Church, Oklahoma City.
