Christopher - Lorita M. Turner , 88, of Christopher died at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with the Rev. David McConnell and the Rev. Gene Fox officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Buckner. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday to the funeral home. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lung Association and will be accepted at the funeral home. She was born Oct. 7, 1916, in Christopher, the daughter of Noble C. and Nellie M. (Jordan) Bacon. She married Glendon Turner on Dec. 24, 1935, and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1999. Mrs. Turner had retired as an LPN and was also a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Christopher, was a member of Eastern Star, active in Boy and Girl Scouts, and participated in Holiday Rambler Outings. Survivors include three children, Gwen Risch of St. Louis, James Turner of Christopher and Jane Fiorenzi of Herrin; seven grandchildren, Eric Risch and wife, Renee, of St. Helena, Calif., Jurt Risch of Eugene, Ore., Tracy Turner and husband, Vince, of Murphysboro, Elaine Wolfe and husband, Greg, of Newman, Ga., and Joe F. Fiorenzi, Ben Fiorenzi and Nellie Fiorenzi, all of Herrin; and four great-grandchildren, Max, Ansel and Ruby Risch, and Cassidy Reece. She loved family get-togethers and parties, oil painting and fishing. She was loved by family and friends because of her sense of humor, wisdom, consideration of others, intellectual curiosity and living, giving so much for her family to appreciate and be thankful for. Her parents, husband, two sisters, Giula Cose and R. Marie Smith, and one brother, N. Durward Bacon preceded her in death.
