Army Pfc. Robert A. Swaney died July 30, 2005 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom, 21, of West Jefferson, Ohio; assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed July 30 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Baghdad. Survivors include his wife, Alexandria; mother, Mary R. Miller of London; father, Michael S. Swaney of North Carolina; brother, Thomas McClellan, serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland; 2 sisters, Deanna and Samantha; a niece, McKenzie; special aunt and uncle, Joe and Angie Denes of West Jefferson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Beverly and Larry Ward; sister-in-law, Samantha of Reynoldsburg; great-grandparents, John and Sarah Hansel of Columbus. Family and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in the RADER-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, West Jefferson, where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial and graveside military service will follow in Obetz Cemetery.
