August 10, 1893; Location: Illinois; Paper: Inter Ocean, page 8; Article type: Mortuary Notice Mumaugh's Victim Dies Indianapolis, Ind., Aug. 9 -- Special Telegram. -- Miss Mary Wuensch who was shot by Lopez Mumaugh several weeks ago, died to-night at her home No. 33 Water street. Coroner Beck was notified this morning and has directed that an autopsy be made. Miss Wuensch was a sister of Mumaugh's wife for whom the bullet was intended. She was 23 years of age. After shooting Miss Wuensch, Mumaugh committed suicide.

Lopez Mumaugh, driver of a delivery wagon, called at the residence of his divorced wife and knocked for admission. The wife, several children and her sister, Miss Mary Wurnsch, a pretty young woman of 23 years, were in the house. They refused admission to Mumaugh, who had visited the house on several previous occasions, threatening to kill his wife. He begged them to bring the baby to the door that he might kiss it.

"Shoots Miss Mary and Himself"

Refused in this also he went to a side window and fired through it, the ball striking his sister-in law in the right breast, inflicting a painful but not fatal wound. Mumaugh started to run out of the yard but was surrounded by half a dozen men whose attention had been attracted by the shot. He waved them back with his pistol, but seeing escape impossible he turned the pistol to his own temple and fired. He died in a couple of hours."
