MRS. BERTHA CONNER DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS; SERVICES TODAY IN BURLINGTON; BODY SENT EAST.
Mrs. Bertha Hancock Conner, wife of the Rev. W. R. Conner, pastor of the First Methodist church of this city, died here at 6:30 o'clock Sunday morning following an illness of but a few days of pneumonia. She was a native of Pennsylvania and was born Sept. 11, 1893, at Runville, Pa. She was a graduate of the Otterbeing college at Westerville, Pa., and also of the Gillett Biblical institute. She was married to the Rev. Mr. Conner in 1921 and it was in that year that both graduated from the above institute. He preached at Menomonee Falls, Wis., during that time. They came to Burlington in 1924 and he recently accepted a call to the church at Whitewater, Wis.
Surviving are the husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Hancock of Phillipsburg, Pa.; two sons, Robert and Walter; three sisters, Mrs. Ada Canova of Charleston, W. Va., and the Misses Helen and Kathleen Hancock, both of Phillipsburg, Pa., and four brothers, Clyde of Boston, Mass.; Deane of Whiting, W. Va.; Gilbert of Saddlerville, Pa., and Milliard of Phillipsburg, Pa.
The funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon in the Methodist church in this city. Dr. H. J. Root, Milwaukee, superintendent of this district, officiating, and a quartet of ministers furnishing vocal numbers. The body will be shipped at 7:30 o'clock tomorrow morning to Phillipsburg, Pa., where there will be services in the United Brethren church on Wednesday.
