U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Peddie Institute, Hightstown, in 1895, from Princeton University in 1899, from New York Law School in 1901, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was a member of the Jersey City State House of Assembly, (1911-12, 6-17), a member of the New Jersey State Water Supply Commission, (1912-15), assistant prosecutor of the pleas of Monmouth County, (1915-17). He also was Sheriff of Monmouth County, (1917-20) and appointed by President Wilson, New Jersey District Attorney, serving (1920-21). In 1923, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-eighth Congress, serving until 1925. After leaving Congress, he resumed the practice of law and was Vice President of the New Jersey Gravel & Sand Company, serving until his death at age 78.
