Mary Albro Curls, 92, went to be with the Lord, her husband, Jim, and her sons, Barry and Robin, Saturday, March 21, 2015, from her home at Highland Place on Medical Court East in Inverness, Florida, where she happily resided for the past year. Born May 24, 1922, in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, the third of six children born to John Irus Albro, Sr. and Emily Elizabeth (Beattie) Albro. She moved to Inverness in 1976, from Clearwater, where she had resided since 1956. She retired from the Carlisle Lincoln Mercury dealership in Clearwater. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rutland, teaching Sunday School and was known for her wonderful pies and cakes. She loved old books and antiques and volunteered at the Library book sale for many years, giving guidance on book values. She and her husband Jim operated "Jim & Mary's Antiques" at Webster for many years.
She was a Gold Star Mother, having lost her oldest son, Captain Barry Ronal Delphin, USAF, in the Vietnam war March 19, 1967. Her second son, Robin Hood Delphin, died of brain cancer on March 27, 2013. Besides her parents and sons, she was also predeceased by her husband of 28 years, James Henry Curls, September 10, 2006, her sister, Mildred Albro in 1929, her brother, John Albro Jr. in 2000, sister, Carolyn Breene in 2002 and great-grandson, Walker Lane Goodson May 25, 1997.
She is survived by step-son, James Henry Curls III, of Brandon, (Tammy); and granddaughter, Cassidy Curls of Tallahassee. Her daughter-in-law, Phyllis Carlson (Ed); her grandchildren (Barry's children), Casey K. Carlson of Clearwater and Kletia Goodson of North Carolina; and two great-granddaughters, Rachel and Hannah Goodson. Brother, Waite Albro of, Coventry, Rhode Island; sister, Susan Fontaine (Jim) of West Greenwich, Rhode Island; sister-in-law, Jennie Szura of Coventry, Rhode Island. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, locally they are: Doris Albro Graska, Donna Albro Young (Rex), and William Albro (Tanya), all of Inverness, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be held from the Charles E. Davis Funeral Home on Friday, March 27th with visitation from 9 am. until the hour of service at 10. The procession will leave at 10:45 for services at 11:30 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
The family thanks the staff of Highland Place for their caring and concern for Mary and her family from the very beginning until her peaceful passing.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to the woundedwarriorproject.org or First Baptist Church of Rutland.
