GERALD W. MUHOWSKI Cpl. Gerald Muchowski (sic) 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Muchowski Sr., of Newton, died Tuesday at Ft. Benjamin, Harrison, Ind., where he was a member of an air corp unit. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Casimir Catholic church, Newton, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Corporal Muchowski was born in Newton in 1930 and after his enlistment in the army in 1947 was assigned to the 22nd bomb group, a unit of the 316th bombardment wing, which was on occupation duty in the Pacific. Later he returned to service in the United States. He was a member of the Holy Name society. Survivors are his parents; two brothers, Matt Jr., of Newton and Donald of Janesville; sister, Mary Ann at home; stepbrother, Leonard Muchowski of this city; stepsister, Mrs. Lilah Pokorski of this city. The body may be viewed at the Leschhke funeral home after Friday noon where the rosary will be recited at 8 .m. Friday. Manitowoc Herald Times, February 17, 1949.
