Civil War Union Army soldier. Private, Co. B, 28th Massachusetts Infantry. He previously served with Co. L, 3rd Massachusetts Cavalry. A farmer, he enlisted March 18, 1864. He died at the age of 38 of wounds he received May 5, 1864, during the Battle of the Wilderness. Son of Nathaniel and Mary Colley Bartlett. He was married to Theresa C. Stuart, a Civil War nurse, in Marblehead on 3 Feb 1848. They are buried side-by-side.
