Twylla I. Berger a resident of Ocala, Florida formerly longtime resident of Yale, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at her home in Florida at the age of 97. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Yale. Interment will follow at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, OK.

Ocala - Twylla I. Berger, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Yale, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the West Marion Community Hospital, Ocala, FL.
Twylla was born on December 6, 1917 in Drumright, IK to the late Boise and Edna (Pershing) Briggs. She grew up in Yale, graduating from Yale High School in 1933. Twylla attended beauty school and later opened her own Beauty Shop. Twylla married the love of her life Billie Dabid Berger on October 11, 1942 in Carson City, Nevada. He returned to the service after getting married. They lived all over the world, including Ethiopia, Libya and Kuwait. While in Ethiopia, Twylla and her husband were invited to participate in the Silver Jubilee Fair for Emperor Haillie Selassie of Ethiopia and were invited to dine with the emperor. So often, she referred to herself as 'The World Traveler'.
They eventually make their home in Yale, where they were members of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), then later transferred to the First United Methodist Church. Twylla was a social butterfly. She was a member of the Yale Study Club, Jim Thorpe Historical Home, American Legion Ladies Auxillary, Yale Alumni Association and the Still water Historical Society. She was also the first lady to serve on the Yale Board of Education.
After the death of her husband, she moved to Florida with her son. She was recently working on Memories of Old Yale on her facebook page. She was proud of her family. With her outgoing personality she was always making new friends and keeping in touch with the old friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Virgil and Jack, and sister Thelma Stewart.
