Mary Lucas Manek, age 98, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on March 2, 1917 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the loving daughter of the late, Albert and Mary Feskum Lucas. Mary spent most of her life in Oklahoma City where she met and married Ed Manek on June 25, 1938. This happy union of 42 years was blessed with two sons, George and Edward. Mary was a homemaker and worked for John A. Brown Company Department Store for several years as a sales clerk. She enjoyed crocheting and collecting bells. In January 2001 she moved to Hanover Indiana and resided at Thornton Terrace Health Campus, where she continued to crochet, play bingo and go out on outing with the other residents. Mary enjoyed her years there where she was lovingly cared for and attended to by the staff and residents. Mary died on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana. Mary will be missed by her loving sons, George L. Manek and his wife, Alcia of Hanover, Indiana; Edward A. Manek and his wife, Dixie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Dee Ann (David), Jody (Tal), Steven (Tina), Andrew, and Jarrett (Jennifer); her great grandchildren, Lindsay, Bret, Tristen, Ethan, Ashten, Ryker, Kyndra, Wyatt, Abigail; her sister, Pauline Hargrove of Dallas, Texas; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary Feskum Lucas; her husband of forty two years, Edward Manek died, Sept. 1, 1980; her sisters, Joann Zabsky, Alice Greer and Eva Heckerd. Friends may call Tuesday from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 p.m. at the Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S. Western Avenue in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery, 6001 Northwest Grand Boulevard in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73118. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Ukrainian Church in Jones, Oklahoma or Thornton Terrace Health Campus Activities Fund.
