W. Charles Acton of Mitchell, IN, died April 21, 2004, at his residence.

Born on January 12, 1928, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Warren Henry and Vernal (Barnett) Acton. He married Mary Thomas on July 1, 1950, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Cynthia Jo Matlock and her husband, Mike, of Bedford, IN; two sons, Thomas Wesley Acton and his wife, Becki, of Bedford, IN, and Timothy Dale Acton and his wife, Dawn, of Oolitic, IN; one sister, Mary Edith Gossman of Clarksville, IN; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Batchelor Rayhill; and one brother, William Joseph Acton.

He retired from Carpenter Body Words. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Mitchell and was a member and past master of Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228.

Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
