Roy Lee Ross, 91, Independence, MO, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Villages in Independence. Roy was born September 27, 1923 at Perry, KS, the son of Oscar V. and Maude R. Killinger Ross. He was a 1941 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and earned a Business degree with a minor in Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1951. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII, serving from January 1943 to January 1946. He worked as a tooling engineer for the Vendo Manufacturing Company in Kansas City for 28 years and he then worked as a cost estimator for Wilcox Aviation in Kansas City until his retirement in 1989. He was married to Gladys Marion Lobb on June 14, 1947 at Oskaloosa, she preceded him in death on August 10, 2000. Roy is survived by two sons, Dennis R. Ross, Independence, MO, Philip Lee “Phil” Ross, Perry, two sisters, Irene Schultz, Leavenworth, and Virginia Reiling, Oskaloosa and one granddaughter, Sarah Lea Ross, Olathe. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnnie Ross and Ira Ross, both of Perry and one sister, Pauline Horr of Holton. Services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry. Visitation will be one hour before services, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday at the Funeral Home.
