Second Lieutenant Bailey was the pilot of
C-47 Skytrain #41-18451, serving with the
2528 Base Unit, Midland Army Airfield.

He was killed when the transport disintegrated
during a thunderstorm and crashed, three
miles south of Sweetwater, Texas.

All twenty-five Army personnel aboard perished:
