Hugh Nicholas Craft is the son of Pvt. James Frederick Craft and Martha Ann Caldwell. He married Mary Jane Wright on March 13, 1878. He is the father of Edgar Fulton, Philip Eakin, Essie Craig, Emma Effie, Bessie Mabel, Earl Adair, Virgin Mary, and Recie Ethel Craft. There is no grave marker for Hugh Craft, and apparently the burial records for the cemetery are lost. Hugh is buried here however, and remembered by his family.

Per the New Castle Record, New Castle, Virginia, Saturday, June 26, 1937. Hugh Nicholas Craft died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brizendine in Barbours Creek Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. Deceased, had he lived till October, would have been 85 years of age. He was a life long resident of Craig and a highly respectable citizen. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Cross Roads Church at Barbours Creek by his pastor, John E. Grasty of the New Castle Church of Christ. Mr. Craft, who lost his wife about two years ago, is survived by the following children: Edgar F. Craft, Clifton Forge; Mrs. Emma Hutchison, Goshen, Virginia; Mrs. Bessie Brizendine, Barbours Creek; Mrs. Virgie Craft and Mrs. Recie Wright, Covington; and Earl Craft, Dehue, West Virginia.

His death certificate shows DOB as Oct 4, 1853. His marriage license shows 1852.
