Phelan, William H. "Bill",

passed away at home on April 27 following a brief illness.

Bill was born in Louisville, KY on February 1, 1932 to Halpin and Mary Frances Phelan. Following his graduation from Flaget high school, he went on to earn a bachelor degree from the University of Louisville and a MBA from Indiana University, following which he moved to Cincinnati in 1957 to begin a 30+ year career with Procter and Gamble. He enjoyed a series of successful assignments while at P&G, predominantly recruiting for the Purchasing division, culminating in an associate director position from which he retired in1988. His responsibilities provided him the opportunity to develop many close business and personal relationships, which he continued to enjoy in his retirement years through his extensive travels. Bill was also actively involved in many civic and philanthropic organizations in the Cincinnati area through all of his working and retirement years. His impact on the community will continue to be felt for many years following his passing.

Bill is survived by his sister Joyce Smith Bacon of Knoxville, TN and nephews Stephen Smith, Kevin (Marilyn) Smith, Brian (Celia) Smith and Barry Smith along with several great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to Bill's caregivers, particularly to Lottie Hamblin who provided exceptional care and companionship to Bill in recent years, enabling him to enjoy activities ranging from trips to the dog park to European vacations.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 4 at 10:00am at St. Rose Church, 2501 Riverside Dr. Cincinnati. Burial will occur on Tuesday, May 5 at 11:00 at St. Louis cemetery, 1167 Barret Ave. Louisville, KY.
